Awkward Times
Awkward times are when one cannot help the situation but only feel awkward. To illustrate, when an individual talks bad about someone without any realization, a child may hear it. He then may go tell the person being disparaged.
Sometimes, it is hard to control emotions and how one feels. As an example, when someone says something out loud in the midst of a group of people without realizing it. Likewise, in the child scenario, where the child goes and tells the person in question, which creates an uneasy feeling that leaves one silent.
Personally, when I am talking to friends, every now and then I blurt things out and barely notice what I have said. It is not that my friends wouldn’t like me after this incident; it is more a sense of nervousness and embarrassment. Read more »
Things I do, when bored
I go on a treasure hunt for things that I can’t find in my own house.
I organize my closet and take extras for donation.
I do my home office filing and clear up the clutter on the desk.
I pull out the old picture albums and revisit old memories.
I call a friend or relative that I haven’t talked to for a long time.
I go to the library and research a topic that may have been on my mind.
I offer babysitting to a family that may need some help.
I volunteer at the hospital, nursing home, women center, etc.
I do something nice for my parents for no reason. Read more »
Meeting In-laws
May 31, 2008
Meeting in-laws for the first time makes anyone nervous. Commonly, people are on their best behavior at this particular time. At the same time, it is an exciting time for both parties as they try to get to know each other on a more personal level.
When I spoke with my in-laws for the first time, it was definitely an exciting experience. Right away, they showed their happiness toward me and made me feel at ease. My father-in-law expressed how I fit right into the family. In addition, he revealed how my mother-in-law cheerfully talked about me all the time.
On the other hand, all my mother-in-law wanted to do was shower me with all kinds of gifts. She even started talking about grandchildren. Although I felt shy, still I was glad to see her excitement.
