My First Bus Ride (Alone)

January 22, 1999 (Dolly’s original writing when sixteen)
When I was sixteen I rode in a bus to see my aunt. It was the first time I rode by myself. In this ride I wanted to have fun and enjoy myself. When I was sitting in the bus a girl about twenty years old came and sat with me. When I looked at her she looked very quiet and did not want to talk with anyone.
Anyway, I asked her, “what time is it please”. She answered. After a while, she asked my name and I inquired about her. We talked about so many things. Our discussion was interesting. I was really having fun with her. After our talk when the bus stopped she left.
Now, I was sitting in the bus, thinking about our talk and how interesting it was. Whenever she left I didn’t have anything from her but the memory of unexpected delightful conversation. I learned so many things from that chance meeting. Now, it was my stop and I had to go and see my aunt. But I was no longer waiting fro my stop; I was enjoying the ride.
Favorite Hair Clip
January 22, 1999
When I was sixteen, my mom bought me a hair clip. Whenever my mom would buy me something, I usually didn’t like her choice. When she bought me that hair clip I told her I didn’t like it, and I was not going to wear it. Finally, the next day when I was getting ready to go school, I wore that clip and I liked it. When I arrived at school, my friends liked it too.
My mom bought me that hair clip at the age of sixteen. I am now eighteen and still often wear that hair clip. In those two years I didn’t find any other hair clip about which I could say, “this is my favorite hair clip”. I like the other hair clips too, but they are not my favorites. I think I am going to wear this hair clip until it breaks.
This hair clip always reminds me of my mom and how she is. I know that it is very little thing, but sometimes little things carry a greater meaning because of certain memories.
