Remember – The Right Thing
July 20, 2009
When you say someone’s name, make their name feel safe in your mouth.
Don’t give too many details unless asked in any given situation.
Think before you speak; don’t be wise in your own eyes.
Don’t correct others’ children; be friendly.
Try not to be opinionated about everything, practice quietness.
When someone finishes talking, don’t always try to have the last word.
Don’t look for your happiness in people; you will set yourself up for disappointment.
If someone is rude, respond in loving manner yet make your point.
If someone is difficult, the answer is not to avoid them but to practice gentleness with wisdom.
Don’t let others decide for you; learn to decide for yourself, good or bad.
Don’t let people change who you are in any given circumstance; keep your peace at all times.
Let people be who they are; it’s not your duty to correct them; let them figure it out, correct yourself.
If someone is not listening about doing the right thing; let them make their own decisions and learn from their mistakes.
When giving a gift don’t expect anything in return you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Not everyone feels the same way as you do. Practice freedom of choice.
When someone hurts you don’t stay in pain because he/she may not realize the situation. Look to God, get delivered and experience peace.
Pride the Root Cause
July 11, 2009
Today, emotional stress and depression all around us is viewed as common in our daily lives. It may start from as little as dealing with traffic to work stress and relationship strife. However, we often ignore that the root cause of it all is pride.
It is pride that enrages one individual against another on the road; he may think, “does he think he is better than me, I will show him by honking at him” instead of humbling himself. To illustrate, “A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult.”
Also, when dealing with difficulties at work and tough circumstances, it is easy to fall into the pit of pride. For example, maintaining an attitude of humility with your co-workers is much more important than being right all the time. No one wants destruction in their life, the opposite of pride is humility, because “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”
Additionally, relationship strife can start from small misunderstandings resulting in disconnect from each other, which leads to depression. Instead of putting the pride aside and reuniting the couple grows further apart. In spite of this, you must not forget as C.S. Lewis once said, “A man is never so proud as when striking an attitude of Humility.”
Moreover, it is truly amazing how much every couple remembers about love before marriage and forgets soon after. A love quote is something every couple should have in their memory. So, the next time any of those negative thoughts about your loved one surface, you will immediately be reminded.
Reading: “Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy.
Love is never boastful, nor conceited, nor rude;
It is not self-seeking, nor easily angered.
It keeps no record of wrongdoing.
It does not delight in evil,
But rejoices in the truth.
It always protects, trusts, hopes, and preserves.
There is nothing love cannot face;
There is no limit to its faith, hope, and endurance.
In a word, there are three things that last forever:
Faith, hope, and love;
But the greatest of them all is love.”
Overall, life without pride is much more peaceful and giving. You are not constantly thinking about your next move based on pride, instead your mind is settled on humility and love.
Women are Apples
Women are like apples on trees, the best ones are on the top of the tree. The men don’t want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and don’t want to get hurt. Instead, they just get the rotten apples from the ground that isn’t so good but easy. So, the apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality they are amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who’s brave enough to climb all the way to the top because they value quality.
