A Place I Have Lived
I have lived in several different places, but there is one small town that holds a special place in my heart, which is in India. It was wonderful to watch the passing of the four seasons in the little city where I grew up.
I especially enjoyed the interesting people who I remember as being so nice and wearing colorful clothing. My favorite of those people was my grandfather. Every evening as he would come to visit us, we could always find something in his pockets as he held us to love on us.
I still remember how my friends and I used to play in the evenings. There were times we made fun of each other. At that time, this teasing must have sounded terrible, but now in my memory it seems fun and full of happiness.
The garden in our house was special. We had a swing, and we loved playing tag as we ran around on the cool green grass.
In my bedroom, the sunshine came every day. I imagined so many things as I stood in that bright shining light. All day, my mind would not rest and would keep on thinking of all the wonderful things possible.
When my mother cooked; the aroma of her food filled the entire house. It felt like she was cooking for an army. There were always so many things at the table. It was hard to decide because everything was so tasteful. Of course, we always ate too much.
As I would come home from school, I would feel tired. However, when I entered our home, it felt so relaxing and fresh. As I would make my way to my mother, her love would always be there waiting with open arms. She would hold me tight as if she controlled everything. And now I was safe.
The temperature was too hot in summer, and in winter it was often freezing. I am surprised that we lived without any air conditioner and central heat.
These days of my childhood won’t return. The memories, however, will always be there to cherish forever.
